What is the 11+ exam?
The 11+ is an entrance exam for admission into Grammar schools and selective independent schools. The exam consists of 4 areas: Mathematics, English, Verbal reasoning and Non-Verbal reasoning. Schools generally do not usually train students for the 11+ exam and both Verbal and Non-Verbal reasoning are not taught within the national curriculum.

What are the main exam boards for the 11+ exam?
• GL Assessment: Dorset, Kent, Lancashire & Cumbria, Lincolnshire, Medway, Northern Ireland, Wiltshire.
• CEM: Berkshire, Bexley, Birmingham, Buckinghamshire, Devon, Gloucestershire, Shropshire, Walsall, Warwickshire, Wirral, Wolverhampton.
• GL and CEM: Devon, Essex, Hertfordshire, Trafford, Yorkshire.
You may wish to contact the Grammar schools in your area and ask them which exam board they are using.

When should you begin preparing your child?
When should you begin preparing your child?
Your child will have a higher chance of success if they are prepared well in advance of the exam. Although the 11+ exam will take place when your child is in year 6, we recommend starting preparation for the exam towards the end of year 3.
We offer various tutoring options including 11+ sessions, intensive courses and mock exams.
